Slow Cooker Balsamic Garlic Beef

This was quite tasty with a very different flavor than most of the crockpot recipes we've tried.  It was right on the edge of the level of sweetness I like meat to have, which was surprising since there was nothing particularly sweet involved except a little honey.  It combined marvelously with mashed potatoes with sour cream, and brussels sprouts with butter, salt and garlic powder.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ - 2 lbs beef cut in large chunks (stew beef works fine if the pieces are large)
  • ½ c beef broth
  • ½ Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ Tbsp honey
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, chopped

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients.  Can be prepared ahead and frozen.
  2. Cook in small slow cooker on low for 5-7 hours, or high for 3-5 hours.  (For larger slow cookers, double recipe.)
