This homemade ranch dressing recipe is based on one originally from my childhood best friend's family. I have tried lots of recipes for ranch over the years, but this remains my very favorite, hands down. The flavors are complex and lively, but don't overpower the taste of the fresh salad ingredients. It includes all of my favorite aspects of various recipes, combined into one.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup Buttermilk
- 1/3 cup Sour Cream
- 2 tsp Worcestershire
- 2 tsp Parsley
- 1-3 clove Garlic
- 2 tsp scallions or Chives
- 1 tsp Red Wine Vinegar
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 2 Tbs Shallots
Optional:
- 1/4-1/2 tsp Cholula hot sauce (or other hot sauce as desired)
Directions:
- Mince parsley, garlic, scallions/chives, and shallots very finely.
- Combine all in a bowl or jar with tight lid.
- Whisk together well.
- Allow to sit in refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours to let flavors combine before serving.
